West Tripura
While Tripura as a whole lies approximately between the north latitude 22 degrees 56' and 24 degrees 32 º C and between longitude 91 degrees 0' and 92 degrees 20' east, the West Tripura district lies approximately between latitude 23 degrees 16' to 24 degrees 14' north and longitude 91 degrees 09' east to 91 degrees 47' east. The West Tripura District is bounded by Bangladesh in the north and west by North Tripura in the east and by South Tripura in the south. Total area of the district is 3544 sq.kms. The district headquarters is located at Agartala, which is also the capital of the State.

History of West Tripura : Tripura was a princely State. Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya was the last King. After the death of Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya in May 1947, a council of regency under the leadership of his widowed wife Maharani Kanchanpura Devi took over charge of administration on behalf of the minor prince Kirit Bikram Kishore Manikya.

Fairs & Festivals of West Tripura : Kharch puja of this territory is performed with great joy and devotion. No other festival in Tripura is held with so much pomp and show as this. It is also called 'Chaturdash' or 'Chaudda Devata Puja'. The place where the festival fair is held is, known as 'Chaturdash Devata' or 'Chaudda Devatas bari , Old Agartala, the second capital of His Highness Krishna Manikya.

Places to Visit : Rich in flora and fauna, the scenic beauty of the hilly terrains, interspersed with splash green valleys in between, of the district as a whole may attract the tourists to find solace in the calmness of the nature. The following places may find place in the tourists map of the district in particular.

North Tripura
The North Tripura District has a geographical area of 2,469.90 Sq. Km and is divided into three sub-divisions, namely, Dharmanagar, Kanchanpur and Kailashahar. For the purpose of developmental activities it is divided into eight Blocks namely Kumarghat, Panisagar, Pecharthal, Kadamtala, Damcherra, Dasda, Gournagar and Jampui Hill.

There are three Nagar Panchayats at Dharmanagar, Kailashahar and Kumarghat.Main tribes of the District are Tripuri, Koloi,Halam, Chakma.Two Hill ranges, namely Jampui, Sakan run almost parallal to each other in the District. "Betling Chip", the highest point of the state(939m. ht.), is located in the District in the Jampui range.

Deo, Manu, Longai and Juri are the main rivers. Rock carvings and temples dating back to the 8th century are seen at "UNAKOTI" (about one less then one crore of God and Goddesses) situated at about 10 Km from the District Head quater.

Places to Visit : Unakoti, There is a profusion of rock-cut images, belonging to 11-12th century A.D. , intricate and finely executed. This is as such an open air art gallery. Truly, over the backdrop of widespread hill ranges, surrounded by lush green and bush, a large no. of colossal figures of Hindu gods & goddesses engraved in a 45 mtr. Hillock.

Dhalai District
Dhalai District is the youngest district in Tripura. It is formed in 1995. The District is rich in natural resources. More than 70% area of this district is hilly and forest covered. It has tremendous scenic beauty.

The district Headquarter is situated at Ambassa which is around 90 KM from the state capital Agartala. It is connected through NH 44 and takes around 3 hours to reach. There is no Railway Station in this district. Construction of new railway lines is going on very smoothly.
